In September of this year, the brewers at Slowboat were lucky enough to take a trip to Grace Vineyard’s Shanxi estate. The brewers came back with a new appreciation of both the skills required for grape growing and making wine. While they were there, they selected some cabernet sauvignon grapes to make this new beer! Athena’s Wink Imperial Grape Pilsner takes a clean and easy drinking Pilsner and adds fresh Cabernet Sauvignon grape juice straight from the vineyard during fermentation. Buffeted with a light Nelson Sauvin dry hop, this rose-colored beer clocks in at 7.5% ABV but is deliciously smooth, complex and refreshing with plenty of strong grape flavor and hints of passion fruit and bell peppers.
